We bought two Amazon gift cards for our adult children on December , for $ each, and one worked and one did not work (message said it had already been used). We talked to Amazon customer support and they wouldn’t give us a refund for the nonfunctioning card, so (at the suggestion of the support person) we disputed this with Chase. Chase dealt with Amazon, Amazon paid Chase, and Chase gave us a $ credit. That was all great. But now, Amazon is still trying to make us pay them $. They have frozen my Amazon account. I thought when Chase went to bat for a customer, the matter would be closed, but it seems that is not the case. What's the point of having Chase step in if we still end up having to pay $ for a useless piece of plastic? We have talked with Amazon customer support over and over and over, and they keep saying there's nothing they can do and we have to pay this. It seems that the gift card people are almost like a separate company, and Amazon can’t compel them to do anything (or so I was told by customer service). And since they (the gift card people) told us to contact Chase, the matter is now considered a chargeback at Amazon and can no longer be addressed. This doesn’t make sense to me, since they won’t get off our backs about it (and they’ve frozen my Amazon account, which I would immediately close if I could). Do you think you can do something with this mess?**This appears to be a common issue for people.
